Taco 1/2 HP Stainless Steel Circulator

The Taco 1/2 HP Stainless Steel Circulator is from the 2400 Series High Capacity Circulator Line. These pumps were designed and engineered for a quieter and maintenance free operation. The 2400 Series offers a wide range of larger residential and commercial hydronic system applications. Some of the more common applications for the 1/2HP Stainless Steel Circulator are hydronic heating, in floor radiant heating, snow melt, outdoor wood boilers and water cooling systems. Taco recommends that these pumps be used for open domestic water re-circulation systems.

Some of the features of the Taco 1/2 HP Stainless Steel Circulator include that they are compact pumps with a design that offers space savings. This powerful pump is close coupled with a maintenance free motor. The pump itself is permanently lubricated and sealed for the lifetime of the pump bearings. The mechanical seal is made from durable Carbon/Silicon Carbide. There is a built in Anti Condensate Design for chilled water.

The Taco 1/2 HP Stainless Steel Circulator is well built, the construction of the pump includes materials that are long lasting, and the Casing is made from one of two choices Stainless Steel or Cast Iron. The Seal Face Plate is made from Stainless Steel and the Motor Housing is made from Aluminum. The inner components such as the Impeller is made from 30% Glass filled Noryl and the Impeller Insert is made from Stainless Steel.

The specifications are equally impressive, the Flow Range on the Taco 1/2 HP Stainless Steel Circulator is 0 to 147 Gallons per Minute, and the Head Range is 0 to 51 feet. The minimum Fluid Temperature is rated at 40 degrees Fahrenheit and the maximum is 225 degrees Fahrenheit. Taco recommends that the maximum Working Pressure on the pump be 150 psi. The 2400-50 has an electrical rating of 60 H, single phase with 4.9 amps with a 115 V and 2.4 amps on a 230-volt. The motor is an Open Drip Proof, Permanent Spilt Capacitor Thermally Protected.

The 2400-50S Stainless Steel Circulator has Companion Flange Sets and it has a Shut Off NPT connections. The connection sizes that are available are 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/4″ and 1-1/2″. Taco has a 3-year Warranty on these pumps, so make sure that you read the warranty and install manuals to make sure that you understand everything before you attempt to install the pump. Taco recommends that you use a qualified licensed electrician to install the wiring on the pump, this will ensure that you have a pump that is installed correctly and that your warranty is still intact.

Taco recommends that you install your pump with the right amount of space for inspections, maintenance and service. It is also recommended so that isolation valves are installed on the pump’s suction and discharge in order to create an easier service or even a replacement without having to drain down the system. Always install the pump with the motor shaft in the position of horizontal and the capacitor should be located on top of the motor housing.
